Webagogo is a fantastic FREE tool that will view your website and score it based on how well Designed, Popular, Secure and Accessible it is.

They have a Top 10 leader board to get into, which is proudly presented on their front page. Find out what we thought of the validator using one of our Brochure websites.

For test purposes we chose one of our Brochure websites to try and get on the front page, namely North Wales Koi. We chose this because it has many different technologies working together, and if we could achieve a good scoring here it would prove a robust platform for us to use on other projects.

What does Webagogo Check for?

North Wales Koi Webagogo Score

Deep breath, the validator checks for:

  • Valid Markup
  • CSS
  • Accessibility WCAG1-2-3
  • Usability
  • RSS
  • Speed
  • SEO
  • Security
  • Privacy
  • Compatibility
  • Link structure

and more; it really is a fully developed validation tool that is a must have for any quality conscious developer. These scores are marked out of 10 and given a star rating, and explanations are given if any Errors or Warnings are found.

Not just another Validator

We haven’t come across another validator which has been so well thought out and supported before. The team are both helpful and polite to their users and it has been a pleasure to use the tool over the last few weeks.

We know that there are many on-line validators out there, but most come with associated problems:

  • SiteScore (experiencing a lot of downtime recently)
  • SEOmoz (great but not nearly thorough enough)
  • WatchFire WebXACT (free version to be taken down shortly)

So much more

They’ve got a lot going on over at the webagogo website, including a forum which is populated by those who run tests and no-one else, which is great for keeping the ’spammers’ out and leaving high quality content alone. A CPU monitor to let you know when there are a lot of people demanding results. News updates, Site of week, API tools and lots more. Well worth a login.

I’ve been looking for another validator, and this seems great. I haven’t signed up yet, but I will definitely be checking it out. Thank you, Annie.

I think they should have a Demo / Trial without registering…

Not sure about the demo without registering, I can understand the whole registering thing (more members the better).

But I’ve heard you have to add stuff to your code before it will work; in the header. Should be able to just test documents wihtout messing with code.

I know its not a major prob, but might attract more peeps to the validator… which does seem pretty good!

It’s not ‘messing with the code’.. You have to add a line in the header because otherwise you can test every website that comes up in your head and that’s not the purpose. It has to be your own site -logically-.
I think webagogo’s a great tool to test your website and the test is worth every effort.

I use webagogo and think it’s great! I have been a web designer for years and yet had not heard of p3p or gzip…
Adding a meta tag is not a problem at all, it will not effect your seo or load time.
