New Commodore Laptop

Although I’m old enough to remember the Commodore Vic 20, which shipped with a staggering 5Kb of Ram, and have happy memories playing games such as, Radar rat race, this new commodore laptop is not exactly exciting.

Let’s start with the name. Now you would think that something quirky and catchy would have been on the minds of the Commodore branding team as they talked about their new model, well this is what they came up with: Commodore UMMD 8010/F Netbook

And then there is the price, suggested to be in the region of £325! It’s hardly competitive, so this little laptop is really going to have its work cut out to play with the big boys.

Further more, as one blogger remarks, the VGA and RJ-45 ports are on opposite sides… it would seem the design team were also napping that day - it surely isn’t a great way of getting a tidy desktop.

Let’s face it, if the retro brand is all you care about, buy a commodore sticker and stick it over your HP / Apple logo and spend the money you saved on tic tacs.

That said, it’s nice to see that Commodore are still alive, I just wish they had branded it a bit better - here are some photos;
