Forget Lithium-Ion, think Silver-Zinc batteries
Posted: January, 04 2008More powerful, safer and much more recyclable than Lithium-Ion; Silver Zinc batteries are set to be the new leader in battery power.
More Powerful
Based on silver, zinc and water. These advanced batteries offer 30% more energy density than traditional lithium-ion, whilst being a whole lot greener too.
Safer
Many manufacturers are concerned about packing more power into traditional lithium-ion batteries because lithium-ion can be a volatile, unstable and flammable chemistry - remember the Dell laptop exploding in the Japanese conference?
More recyclable
Lithium-ion batteries are recyclable but contain little recoverable material. The metals in Silver-Zinc batteries will be recoverable, and with a precious metal like silver in them, there will be a strong incentive to do so. The capacity should be 30 percent higher than lithium-ion laptop batteries.
