Facebook costs UK firms £130 million a day
Posted: September, 10 2007An employment firm has worked out that social noetworking sites such as Facebook cost UK firms about £130 million daily.
Employment law firm Peninsula worked out that 233 million hours are lost every month by employees “wasting time” on the internet. In a statement to Channel Four, Mike Huss of Peninsula asked why, oh why, oh why why should employers allow their workers to waste two hours a day on Facebook when they are being paid to do a job?
He said the figures could be much worse as some outfits were happy to let their workers use the internet for personal use, assuming that goals and targets were achieved.
He said that the loss of productivity through social notworks such as Facebook was a major headache. He said that it was better for companies to block access. The outfit failed to ask what sort of companies hire people who can spend two hours a day on Facebook.
