Could battery problems ruin the iPhone experience?
After the recent embarrassment of Apples Laptop Battery issues, the company will have their work cut out to run all their proposed services on the new iPhone; at least for any sustained amount of time.
Is the Talk time correct?
Apple says iPhone will deliver up to eight hours of talk time (6 hours of Internet use, 7 hours of video playback or 24 hours of audio playback.) The company also claims the iPhone will feature up to 250 hours-more than 10 days-of standby time.

We hope those times are accurate, but some sources have indicated iPhone’s active use battery life may be closer to around 4-5 hours for heavy use, similar to other smart phones. However, because an iPhone also serves as an iPod, unless Apple’s claims on performance specs are accurate, 4-5 hours of video playback may not be enough for usage such as on international flights, and for phone use afterwards.
Weaker signals
The iPhone runs on the EDGE network, which is slower than the growing 3G network, and not nearly as well covered. Connecting to weaker signals also drains battery power.
Apple already looking for a replacement!
Apple are already looking into a replaceable battery design, similar to its MacBook and MacBook Pro product lines. This could give customers more flexibility and could even create a lucrative, after market battery marketplace for Apple with its licensing partners.

I agree. I just had my 2 iPhones exchanged. The battery life is not as advertised. I got a message on the phone indicating that it needs servicing from Apple and to take it to the nearest store. I told the “Genius” what the issue was and he looked at me like he was surprised to hear what my phones were doing. I’m sure they know what’s going on, they don’t want customers to panic. Well I’m getting to that point. I’m giving my new phones one last shot. Oh, and the phone seems to get HOT for some reason, no i don’t leave it out in the sun. I love it’s features, but if the battery can’t keep up, Bye Bye iPhone , Hello version 2.o

I have a first generation Iphone and several times it will just go dead - like all power was drained from the phone.
I will plug it in to charge and nothing happens. I have to wait around 24 hours before plugging it in and then it will start to charge.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? My phone also runs v.hot for some reason.
