Is Google breaking another law?

Google has been told that it may be breaking European privacy laws by keeping people’s search information on its servers for up to two years. A data protection group that advises the European Union has written to the search giant to express concerns. The Article 29 group, made up of data protection commissioners around the EU, has asked Google to clarify its policy.

Mobile devices are becoming more and more sophisticated. A version of the increasingly popular Linux operating system Ubuntu will be developed for use on net-enabled phones and devices.

The Ubuntu Mobile and Embedded project aims to create the open source platform for initial release in October 2007. The operating system will be developed by members of the Ubuntu community, along with staff from chip giant Intel.

Researchers Break Internet Speed Records

A group of researchers led by the University of Tokyo has broken Internet speed records - twice in two days.

Operators of the high-speed Internet2 network announced Tuesday that the researchers on Dec. 30 sent data at 7.67 gigabits per second, using standard communications protocols.
