Wii doubles Nintendo’s profit

Recent sales figures released show that the Wii console boosted Nintendo’s profit by nearly 200% from the previous year - Sales rose 84.7 per cent from a year ago to 1.316 trillion yen ($US12.35 billion) from $US7.12 billion.

Nintendo Wii could help Surgeons perform

Sounds unbelievable, but an American Medical centre has been conducting trials which have shown that surgeons who played the Nintendo Wii before surgery, actually perform better than if they hadn’t played at all.

In the Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona surgical residents performed better during simulated surgery after playing on the Wii for an hour beforehand.

Scrabulous to be pulled from Facebook

Scrabulous, the word game enjoyed by over half a million Facebook users every day is set to be pulled from the site after Scrabble owners Hasbro and Mattel, say it infringements on their copyright. Two Brothers, Rajat and Jayant Agarwalla built the software for Facebook.

HD DVD not going down without a fight

According to engadget, the HD-DVD format is ‘firing back’ with a massive price slash across its best selling lines, it’s a shrewd move, but probably more of a marketing ploy to get rid of the stock they have invested so heavily in before everybody and their dog finds out the format is dead in the water.

First battery-less digital camera

First it was the battery less Radio, now Sony have developed a battery-less digital camera. Using a twirling method, the camera generates enough juice in 15 seconds for one picture.

Aptly named the ‘Twirl ‘n Take’, the camera is located in the handle - but as it lacks a display you will still have to hook it up to a VDU to view any pics.
