Backup Email in Outlook, find PST file.

  Posted: October, 24 2009

In Windows XP the PST files are usually located in:

C:/Documents and Settings/Administrator/Local Settings/Application Data/Microsoft/Outlook

Where the Administrator could also be your Profile name.

Within this directory you will have a number of .PST files, it is best to back them all up from time to time, by simply copying and pasting to your backup destination.

If you have a incremental backup solution such as Acronis, then you can set the program to automatically archive these files; highly recommended if you use email a lot.

Didn’t work?

If the above destination is not correct and you have substituted the Administrator for your actual profile, then try the following:
find_out_where_outlook_stores_data_.jpg
Select File | Data File Management… from the menu in Outlook.

The above method should reveal the destination of your PST files (take a note of the directory path).
